Mr. Talie-Andrew Andawi Irabu is a highly experienced finance, accounting and corporate governance professional with more than three decades of professional and senior management experience across Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. A Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA), Mr. Irabu brings to the Board of Papua Finance Limited extensive expertise in financial management, corporate governance, treasury and investments, audit, taxation, strategic planning, project management, risk management and organisational leadership. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held senior financial and management positions with prominent national, regional and international organisations. He has served as Director Finance & Administration (Chief Finance Officer) of CPA Papua New Guinea, where his responsibilities have encompassed financial management, investments, statutory compliance, audit coordination, human resources, ICT, administration and governance, as well as engagement with the organisation’s Council and Board. His earlier senior appointments include Treasury & Investment Manager with Ok Tedi Mining Limited, Senior Financial & Investments Accountant with Porgera Joint Venture, Business Development Manager/Executive Manager with Telikom PNG Limited, and Finance Manager with the University of the South Pacific. His career has also included professional experience with KPMG and regional assignments involving major donor-funded development programmes across Pacific Island countries. Mr. Irabu has particularly strong experience in treasury and investment management. During his tenure with Ok Tedi Mining Limited, his responsibilities included corporate liquidity, foreign exchange and financial risk management, international banking relationships and the management of substantial investment portfolios with financial institutions across Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the United States. His regional experience extends across numerous Pacific Island countries and includes the management and oversight of major projects funded by international development partners, providing him with a broad understanding of financial governance, institutional development and the economic environment of the Pacific. Mr. Irabu holds a Master of Business Administration (International Business) from Griffith University, Australia, a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking & Finance (Regional Development Project Management) from the University of the South Pacific, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Goroka, and a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Papua New Guinea. As Chairman of Papua Finance Limited, Mr. Irabu provides experienced and independent leadership to the Board, with a strong focus on sound corporate governance, financial discipline, regulatory compliance, risk management and the sustainable long-term growth of the Company.
